DECEMBER 2020AEROSPACEDEFENSEREVIEW.COM6EditorialThe technological revolution and globalization have placed intelligence as a major factor in achieving appropriate national security in the face of current military and terror threats. Admittedly, precise knowledge about rivals' capabilities and intentions plays a significant role in achieving a balanced military, meaningful deterrence capabilities, and success in warfare situations.Though the development and organization of intelligence for military usage started centuries back, it was during World War II and the Cold War era that it started gaining widespread recognition. Since then, militaries across the world have started rapidly increasing expenditure on intelligence operations, innovation, and equipment. Governments worldwide are now focusing more on strengthening their intelligence unit to win various regional conflicts and the globalized war against terror. According to the U.S. Department of Defense, the total Military Intelligence Program (MIP) budget for 2020, which included both the base budget and Overseas Contingency Operations appropriations, was $23.1 billion.Further, data is one of the most common topics that is sincerely being discussed in almost all the intelligence talks. Intelligence agencies are increasingly leveraging cognitive tools to bolster their data analytics game as most experts believe that the war is not going to be fought between armies but between computers. The battle of computers and Artificial Intelligence might seem like a far-fetched idea to many of us at this moment. Still, with the pace with which armies worldwide have been adapting automation, a war powered by the applications of artificial intelligence isn't far away.In this edition of Aerospace and Defense Review, we are including some of the players that are strengthening military intelligence with innovative solutions.Let us know your thoughts!Getting Ready for Warfare of TomorrowJonathan AllredManaging Editorjonathan@aerospacedefensereview.comCopyright © 2020 ValleyMedia Inc., All rights reserved.
