A native of Fort Worth, Tamiko W. Bailey was always amused by the thought of joining the U.S. Air Force. However, she had hardly imagined that this urge would shape her life in such profound ways.

From the moment she stepped onto Eglin Air Force Base, Florida, she had found her calling. The roar of jet engines and the camaraderie among fellow airmen ignited a passion she never knew existed.

As she progressed through her training, Bailey found herself drawn to the world of aviation. During her military career, she worked in an aviation environment supporting an F-15/F-16 squadron. She served two tours of duty in Saudi Arabia in support of Operation Southern Watch-No Fly Zone (33rd FW/59th FS) and with the 79th Test and Evaluation Group.

However, the real turning point came when she earned an incentive flight in an F-15 fighter jet for the first time.

With a grin on her face, Bailey climbed the ladder and settled into the cockpit of the F-15. She took a deep breath, trying to steady her racing heart as the canopy closed above her. Her nervousness was betraying her excitement as she told herself, “You’ve earned it. You’re ready for this.”

Suddenly, the engines roared to life, and Bailey felt the G-forces pressing her into the seat. Her mind went numb as she surrendered to the sheer joy of flight. After 90 minutes of dancing among the clouds, it was eventually time to return to Tyndall AFB.

When Bailey climbed out of the cockpit, her legs were still trembling from the adrenaline rush. She couldn’t help but feel a profound sense of gratitude—a feeling that would ignite her passion for working in the aviation industry.

The next few years witnessed Bailey having a fabulous career at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics, Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Controls, DynCorp International, Oracle, and Bell Helicopter, where she would learn the ins and outs of the aviation industry. After 16 years of military and defense industry experience, she decided it was the right time to start her own business. The only thing she needed was capital to get started.

She says, “I had an MBA and all this great experience but wasn’t sure if I could pull it off.”

We know we have to provide safe, rapid solutions for our customers. Sometimes that means getting out of our comfort zone and working a bit harder. But that’s what motivated the girl who was getting on that F-15 fighter jet many years ago, and it still does the job for me and my team to roll up our sleeves and get ready to rumble

The brave lady who was pregnant with her 3rd child took a leap of faith. She put her car down as collateral to secure an initial loan. This helped her start Bailey’s Premier Services out of her garage—taking clients to greater heights through superior quality and service over the next years.

Today, Bailey’s Premier Services, LLC (BPS) has a presence in over eleven U.S. states and UK. It provides aircraft maintenance, aircraft washing (interior and exterior), corrosion control, aircraft lubrication, passenger services, aircraft parts brokering with access to four machine shops, aviation logistics services, line maintenance, on-call services, dispatch, HAZMAT, transient alert maintenance, aviation supply, logbooks, transportation of aircraft parts CONUS/OCONUS, and warehousing and facilities support.

BPS, a service-disabled veteran-owned, full defense contractor, embraces the opportunity to employ highly-skilled vets. The company seeks to employ professionals who possess a combination of military and/or specific industry experience, as well as those who hold a certificate and/or a degree from an accredited college/university.

Going Above and Beyond to Offer Top-Notch Services

BPS has worked extremely hard year after year to build a solid reputation for providing exceptional services and products that have an on-time delivery rating exceeding 95 percent.

Historically, procuring agencies would source requirements from multiple businesses. However, BPS leadership has positioned the company to support complete sustainment and maintenance management of any aircraft. What distinguishes BPS from others in the market is its “one-stop shop” approach for military, commercial, and foreign agencies.

“I always wanted our customers to feel like it was easy to do business with BPS,” says Bailey, the president and CEO of BPS. “In doing so, I set out to develop full spectrum solutions driven by customers’ objectives, and we go above and beyond to augment staffing for other support services for aircraft maintenance.”

Not only does BPS play a part in ensuring aircraft are mission-ready and capable for a competitive price, it also has been responsible for transient and flight-line aircraft. The company meets the rapidly changing schedules of customer by minimizing potential delays and augmenting staffing with qualified and certified highly skilled personnel. They are trained to perform ground handling, marshaling, installing safety pins, inspecting brakes, fueling, inserting chocks and protective covers, tie-down, oil sampling, grounding aircraft, and placement of ladders and staircases.

When necessary, BPS has assisted aircrew, refueled, and provided minor maintenance on aircraft and supported elected officials and Distinguished Visitor (DV) arrivals. All services performed by the company are managed in accordance with technical specifications and OEM manuals and publications.

One-Stop-Shop for Commercial and Military Customers

Another factor that separates BPS is that the company extends the service life of aircraft by providing exterior aircraft corrosion prevention cleaning, aircraft wash preparation, aircraft wash, post wash restoration, lubrication and aircraft forms documentation services. Additionally, BPS employs major and minor interior support crews who adhere strictly to technical orders and specifications, ensuring thorough cleaning of all interior aircraft compartments, including aircraft galleys and latrines.

“We support military readiness by fully integrating our processes for material requests, expediting, tracking, and reconciliation with military and commercial supply departments,” says Bailey.

Materials are ordered in order of priority and BPS’ supply technicians work one-on-one with customers to provide additional information when requested. Excess parts are disposed in a timely manner and are packaged in accordance with mil-specs. Critical material deficiencies that affect production/delivery are reconciled daily by the company’s supply technicians.

BPS also manages and screens aircraft and engine logbooks. Our team monitors the status of TDs, orders kits and tracks kits that are on order weekly basis. BPS also creates work orders and updates system data basis to ensure compliance time. Maintain aviation system database by performing backups and system reboots, updates.

The Quest to Innovation

To better satisfy the needs of its customers, BPS has a fully automated quality management system (QMS) that helps the company continually improve overall management and success. The system is committed to the following:

Consistently meeting customer requirements

Always providing our customers with the best products available

Continually improving the Quality
Management System and the service we provide to our customers

Adhering to all customer requirements, as well as those defined in the international standard AS9100

The introduction of the QMS is a testament to BPS’ quest toward innovation. Even during the COVID, the company’s leadership quickly moved to strengthen its infrastructure during the economic downtown. The primary goal was to maintain existing customers and exceptional customer satisfaction ratings. As a result, BPS got certified to import/export supplies and services internationally. The company has negotiated, ratified and managed collective bargaining agreements.

BPS’s superlative speed, flexibility, safety, training, compliance, and quality have allowed the company to start 2024 on a very strong note.

Providing Safe and Rapid Solutions

Bailey has been named 2024 Small Business Person of the Year for the state of Texas. She will also be competing for the national spotlight in Washington, D.C. and speaking at the SBA’s Women in Business Roundtable.

“The SBA’s Women in Business Roundtable’s purpose is to recognize and uplift the achievements of women-owned small businesses,” she says.

The future shines brightly for BPS, with strategic initiatives aimed at scaling its operations. This includes actively pursuing commercial contracts, Foreign Military Sales (FMS) agreements, and expanding its presence internationally. More importantly, BPS is exploring opportunities for joint ventures or Mentor-Protégé relationships with mid to large-sized businesses. Amidst these efforts, BPS remains committed to maintaining a diverse portfolio of services catering to both defense and commercial markets. The company is considering the possibility of acquiring an existing business to further enhance its capabilities and reach.

“We know we have to provide safe, rapid solutions for our customers. Sometimes that means getting out of our comfort zone and working a bit harder,” says Bailey. “But that’s what motivated the girl who was getting on that F-15 fighter jet many years ago, and it still does the job for me and my team to roll up our sleeves and get ready to rumble.”
