Evolving air transport operations and part obsolescence make retrofitting and system upgrades for aging aircraft a vital sector within the aerospace industry. In particular, upgrades involving In-Flight Entertainment and Connectivity (IFEC), audio jacks, power outputs, and cabin interior lighting are in high demand to provide passengers with the latest technology and amenities to make their flights more enjoyable and comfortable. A critical challenge in these retrofit projects is the constant need for efficient integration of cutting-edge technologies while adhering to stringent weight constraints and meeting demanding deadlines without compromising quality or passenger safety.

Enter IFPL. It is a premier one-stop-shop provider of cabin interior systems, offering top-of-the-line retrofit upgrades for IFEC manufacturers, OEMs, and airlines to ensure a seamless and beautiful transformation of cabins. These projects are carried out while upholding the highest standards of quality, safety, passenger satisfaction, and effectively managing time constraints to guarantee the success of each endeavor. IFPL is founded by entrepreneurial engineers who thrive on designing solutions from scratch. The company embodies a culture that embraces fresh starts and reflects a company ethos deeply rooted in engineering innovation and fearlessness.

“We are an innovative, award-winning electronics company specializing in the design and manufacture of advanced technology and passenger interface products like audio jacks, end-to-end power solutions, and innovative interface systems,” says Dan Rust, head of design. IFPL’s industry-leading audio jacks for aircraft interiors are designed to protect in-flight entertainment investments and deliver high-quality sound that enhances the passenger experience of any airline.

The audio jacks incorporate high-quality components to eliminate customer-induced damage and reduce maintenance costs for customers.

The company’s broad range of innovative and intelligent backend power products provides at-seat power solutions – spanning USB-A and USB-C units, 110V A/C power outputs, and wireless charging devices. It has also released a ground-breaking power management scheme that combines wireless technology used for controlling LED lighting. This allows high-power USB outlets in an aircraft to communicate with each other, enabling them to monitor power usage by passengers and optimize aircraft power distribution. The system ensures that power is fairly allocated to all passengers, efficiently providing them with the maximum available power.

The drop-in mood lighting system offered by IFPL is designed from the ground up to meet the needs of every commercial airline and enhance the cabin’s aesthetics. It collaborated with a U.S. charter operation using an A330 aircraft to transport sports teams worldwide. The client wanted to brand the cabin in the colors of the team they were transporting. IFPL provided a lightweight and reliable drop-in LED lighting solution that had built-in wireless control. The wireless control featured buttons with color schemes for different sports teams. The client could choose the color for the team at boarding, providing a branding experience. The rest of the scenes were set for a premium experience throughout the flight, including meal times, rest, and wake-up sequences.
