In a well-known, highly respected training center of the armed forces, a group of soldiers stands ready. The soft hum of electronic equipment fills the air, blending with the faint, metallic clatter as they adjust their gear. Each soldier wears a state-of-the-art VR headset, sleek yet robust, paired with haptic vests that deliver real-time physical feedback. Gripped in their hands are replica firearms, engineered to replicate their real-life counterparts with impeccable accuracy. Every detail, from the textured grips to the subtle weight shifts during magazine changes, ensures that each motion, recoil and reload feels instinctively genuine. Here, adaptability and reaction time aren’t just tested—they’re forged in virtual steel. The air is charged with anticipation as they brace themselves for a high-stakes simulation—one that could unfold on a nighttime battlefield or in an urban maze.

“Remember gentlemen! You can do this raid two ways: perfectly or once more!” the instructor’s voice echoes. With the Gun Tactical Simulation (GTS) system, soldiers will be immersed in a high-demand tactical task within seconds. The virtual landscape around them dynamically shifts from open desert to hostile urban terrain as mission parameters evolve in real-time.

GTS training can be extended and intensified without requiring additional live rounds or extended field time. The result is a better-prepared force capable of executing missions more safely and effectively

Infinit Simulation, the visionary force behind GTS, has harnessed advanced VR technology and microelectronics to design a personalized tactical training environment for servicemen. This innovation has the potential to boost training effectiveness by 58 percent at an average while reducing costs. While GTS doesn’t replace live training, it provides a tactical advantage by enabling scenarios that are too resource-intensive or dangerous to create in the real world.

“We’re focused on tactical training and the training management requirements. GTS is a valuable tool for trainers and commanders, improving capabilities across the organization, from administrative personnel to elite operators,” says Tamas Marlok, CTO of Infinit Simulation.

A Journey Rooted in Research

Unlike many simulators that stem from the gaming or tech sectors, GTS emerged from a genuine need identified through extensive research. Its journey began in 2019 as part of a PhD project dedicated to modernizing infantry training through cutting-edge technology. Marlok, with a background in IT and dynamic shooting disciplines like IPSC and IDPA, spearheaded this effort. During his studies Marlok met with investors and engineers and together they founded the Infinit Simulation in 2021, distinguishing the company by approaching tactical simulation from a research-driven perspective. Their primary goal was clear: to develop a system capable of supporting small unit tactics while providing personalized training plans for everyone from military academies to private security firms.

Breaking Down the Technology: Inside GTS

The GTS system was designed to be modular and vendor-independent, allowing Infinit Simulation to stay at the forefront by integrating the latest advancements in both software and hardware.

The first version of GTS was a single-user solution with a PC integrated into the user’s plate carrier vest and wired to the VR headset. The current version is more streamlined, fits standard combat gear, and incorporates a headset, an instrumented weapon, and any necessary equipment. The headset can also be integrated into a helmet.

Features like haptic hit feedback and a heart rate monitor have also been added to the system, with the collected data entered into the task execution log. The simulation area depends on the technical capabilities of the headset, but Infinit Simulation offers a well-tested turnkey solution to ensure smooth operation.

Cutting-Edge Features That Elevate Training

The latest developments in Infinit Simulation’s VR technology offer highly immersive training experiences. Trainees use realistic weapons that replicate the weight, appearance, and functionality of actual firearms, though they do not fire live rounds. They must perform tasks like changing magazines and loading weapons exactly as they would with real rifles, pistols, machine guns, or even grenade launchers.

A key advantage for trainers is the system’s ability to monitor over 30 aspects of the training scenario, including speed, time, field of view, and biometric data like heart rate. This data is recorded, stored, and can be replayed or integrated into a database. Clients can develop tailored training programs for different units or teams using this data to improve efficiency.

GTS helps field instructors manage large groups easily and correct mistakes uniformly. The system captures all aspects of each soldier’s performance and provides accurate, objective feedback, enhancing the overall training process.

A Structured Approach to Tactical Training

A critical element of the GTS system is its customizability. Infinit Simulation tailors the system to each client’s specific needs and works closely with them to create scenarios and training sessions that match real-world requirements, like basic live firing exercises up to complex small unit TTPs. The system also features a well-designed graph that illustrates its workflow. Training begins with participants gaining initial experience, followed by a session with GTS to enhance their skills and knowledge. At a later stage, they engage in another GTS session with a focus on different objectives.
GTS is designed for soldiers who know how to shoot but need to learn to fight in a coordinated manner. It teaches small unit tactics, organizing the system of fires, communication, and decision-making under stress. The system can measure stress levels and assess how performance is affected, offering tactical training before soldiers engage in live-fire exercises.

GTS’s Impact on Cadet Training Efficiency

In a notable experiment conducted with infantry officer cadets, two groups followed different training regimens. The first group adhered to the traditional training schedule, while the second received an additional 20 percent more training time using GTS. The group that used GTS scored 58 percent higher in key areas such as tempo, coordination, and safety during live-fire exercises. These improvements weren’t just limited to accuracy but extended to the soldiers’ overall ability to perform tasks under pressure and minimize mistakes.

“GTS training can be extended and intensified without requiring additional live rounds or extended field time. The result is a better-prepared force capable of executing missions more safely and effectively,” says Mark Takacs, product owner of Infinit Simulation.

The Future Looks Tactical

Infinit Simulation has showcased its technology at international exhibitions in countries like Singapore, Saudi Arabia, and across South America. The next phase of development will include the integration of more sophisticated weapon systems, like machine guns and mechanized infantry tactics. In the long term, the facility plans to enhance the tactical training system by incorporating combined arms training at the small unit level, gearing the system to train soldiers for more complex and multidimensional battles.

GTS represents a major leap forward in how military and security forces can train for modern warfare. By providing a realistic, immersive, and data-driven training experience, it allows soldiers to refine their skills and tactics under controlled conditions, saving valuable time and resources. With its continued expansion and focus on integrating new capabilities, Infinit Simulation is poised to become a cornerstone of tactical training worldwide, equipping soldiers with the tools they need to face the battlefield of tomorrow.
