LASO stands as a beacon of excellence in the transportation industry with its extensive equipment, robust infrastructure and diverse capabilities. With a workforce of around 1,300 and a fleet of 2,500 pieces of equipment, including 700 trucks operating daily across Europe, Northern Africa and Mozambique, LASO’s significant outreach facilitates efficient delivery of goods while minimising time and costs.

It ensures secure transportation of all cargo types, irrespective of size or weight, meeting the diverse needs of sectors such as civil construction, steel manufacturing, heavy industry and automotive components. LASO can manage all required means of transport, including rail, sea, or air, if necessary, to organize the logistics of moving goods from origin to destination.

“Our capabilities are notably distinctive within Europe, characterised by the diversity of equipment types and services we offer,” says Francisco Ruiz Miranda, commercial director.

LASO’s service offerings are impressively varied. It provides conventional, special and very special transport. Conventional transport involves standard cargo movement using top liners and platform loaders. Special transport caters to oversized and heavy cargo, requiring skilled drivers, specialised equipment and engineering expertise. Very special transport handles complex tasks like on-site transportation and loadout of large structures, such as modules for offshore platforms.

This range of services, supported by local branches and in-house capabilities, showcases LASO’s versatility and expertise.

Acknowledging the trials of the road transportation sector, including driver shortages, regulatory complexities and infrastructure inadequacies, LASO adopts a meticulous approach to every project. It analyses potential routes and steps for specialised transport, tailoring equipment and evaluating the need for road and ferry options. Following route evaluation, LASO submits a proposal to the client. Once a proposal is accepted, it dives into detailed preparations, securing equipment and permits and briefing drivers thoroughly. Rigorous pre-loading checks ensure compliance.

During transit, LASO employs a GPS monitoring system for continuous tracking of the vehicle and cargo. If there are any issues with the cargo, vehicle or driver, prompt immediate notification to the relevant commercial personnel or directly to the client. Solutions are collaboratively devised, ranging from vehicle changes in case of major issues to allowing the client to decide on further actions for minor concerns. Upon arrival, the cargo undergoes final inspection, paperwork is finalised and unloading begins. This meticulous process guarantees a seamless and dependable transport operation from start to finish.

Technological advancement is central to LASO’s operational enhancement. The in-house IT team has developed proprietary software tailored precisely to its requirements, seamlessly integrating with truck tracking software and other systems. This integration allows it to harness extensive real-time data on critical factors such as carbon footprint, truck status and cargo weight, optimising efficiency and supporting its commitment to sustainability.

Overcoming obstacles isn’t just a motto for LASO—it’s a core ethos. The team is dedicated to finding solutions for clients and ensuring prompt delivery. This philosophy is especially crucial in the aerospace industry, where time-sensitive deliveries are paramount. LASO’s experience in transporting aircraft engines and other aerospace components has honed its ability to manage urgent and complex transport needs. It understands the critical nature of these transports and uses the most suitable equipment to minimise downtime. Safety remains paramount, especially when handling oversized cargo or urgent aircraft-on-ground requests, balancing speed with security.
