Maintenance, repair, and overhaul, or most often referred to by the acronym MRO, is a phrase widely used these days to describe aircraft maintenance activity. The MRO industry is thought to be one that holds numerous repair station authorizations from different aviation authorities around the world, and it accomplishes major maintenance on transport category aircraft that primarily belong to airlines and leasing companies. As one of the most dynamically developing MRO companies in Poland, LOT Aircraft Maintenance Services (AMS) aims to achieve worldwide recognition in terms of quality and precision while providing safety during the entirety of the flight and while the aircraft is on the ground. The company has been an independent enterprise since 2010, when the technical base was separated from the structure of LOT Polish Airlines. “Our seven years of independent activity have been supported by almost one hundred years of experience, transmitted from generation to generation by mechanics and engineers,” says Aleksandra Juda, CEO of LOTAMS.

LOTAMS provides services for civil aircraft fleets and government agencies. Every commission is considered individually and performed under rigorous control in accordance with the required procedures and regulations. The company’s product range and services portfolio extends from base and line maintenance, overpainting the aircraft and offering structural repairs to component maintenance and non-destructive testing (NDT).

In base maintenance, the company eliminates defects in the airframe and other systems while replacing or modifying parts in the aeroplane and its sub-assemblies. The experienced personnel at LOTAMS provide engineering support in structural repairs of the integral metal components of an airframe. The repairs are done with structures that include carbon fibre, glass, aramid composites, and hybrid composites. The maintenance engineering services provide fault isolation and rectification for non-routine malfunctions such as repeating and flickering, and support for complex non-routine maintenance processes such as modifications and pilot implementations.

The aviation company also offers immediate Aircraft On Ground (AOG) support in Warsaw and other airports in Poland. With specialized vehicles equipped with the hardware and tools that enable workers to perform AOG services, clients can investigate and remove defects, replace engines, and perform special checks for bird strikes, overweight landings, and more.

LOTAMS partnered with a Dutch airline company to apply its services and products to the Embraer series of aircraft. Over the past four years of cooperation, LOTAMS employees have worked on the fleet for a total of almost a quarter of a million man-hours, including painting, base checks of type C1 / C2 / C3 / C4 and repairs of individual aviation parts that are subject to wear or to periodic maintenance. “The base maintenance of Embraer aircraft is one of the flagship services of LOTAMS. We service E-jets of airlines from around the world,” says Juda. The latest technological inventions and techniques additionally support the knowledge and experience of the employees— the latter helping to improve work efficiencies and reduce downtimes during aircraft repair.
