Back in 1979, when all machining operations were performed manually, and prints were delivered via snail mail, Max Lux, a master machinist, laid the foundation of LUX Manufacturing in Redwood City, CA to serve Silicon Valley clients with high quality machined parts, assemblies, and exceptional customer service. Following his father's footsteps, Frank Lux, the CEO/President at LUX Manufacturing, joined the business soon. As an avid programmer who started out by supporting the business through hand-written G-Code for CNC Programming, Frank has witnessed the industry transition from manual to automated machining. Although a lot has changed over the years, LUX Manufacturing’s commitment to quality and on-time delivery of high-quality precision parts has been intact. “We have always been pushing for constant improvements, even small ones, as we believe they count and add up. For over four decades, we have survived, evolved, and expanded and have been machining the highest quality turnkey manufacturing solutions utilizing state-of-the-art technologies,” asserts Frank.

Under Frank’s leadership, the company has successfully grown its clientele and overcome the challenges associated with the use of emerging technologies and various interfaces, such as SAP Ariba, Exostar, and more used by its customers.

Frank came up with the company’s tagline, “Turning Solids into Reality,” over 20 years ago when customers first started sending out prints with solids. "Our tagline symbolizes that we can accept and utilize the most up to date CAD data and translate it into quotes, operations, and programs that we use for providing a faster more accurate finished part to our client," mentions Frank. Today, LUX Manufacturing is a well-known name in the industry, specializing in 5-Axis CNC machining, CNC mill, and CNC lathe projects, high volume assembly, and mostly brazing assemblies. The company offers both short-run prototypes and longer production runs. With a large selection of CNC and manual equipment, LUX Manufacturing is capable of manufacturing nearly any type of metal or plastic part.

LUX Manufacturing strives to improve its technology and capacity and has been, over the years, installing bigger, newer machines to more effectively handle higher volumes and make the overall machining process more seamless. The company leverages the latest in advanced production tools and machinery, including the recently added Haas UMC-1000, a 5th axis universal machining center, and the Haas ST-30 CNC lathe. The company's continual addition of new machines, such as the Haas DM-1, DT-1, and the Matsuura VX-1000 vertical machining center, is a testament to its commitment to providing quality precision parts through necessary equipment upgrades.

LUX Manufacturing offers precision-machined parts to the aerospace, medical device, optics, sustainable energy, semiconductor, and consumer electronics industries. Being an ISO 9001:2015 certified contract manufacturer, and just became AS9100 Certified. “We believe in building strong, lasting relationships with our customers. We have in-person conversations with our clients—from buyers to engineers—and through this open communication, we receive their feedback on the product and make timely modifications as per their requirements,” states Lauren Lux, Strategic Account Manager at LUX Manufacturing.

Today, LUX Manufacturing employs 15 people in a 7,000 square feet facility located in Sunnyvale, CA. The company is focused on enhancing customer satisfaction, and its expert team works closely with each client to ensure that the desired prototypes are made exactly as per specifications and on time. Additionally, LUX Manufacturing has developed a quality management system to consistently provide products that meet customers’ needs and all applicable specifications and regulatory requirements.
