Yan Zhiyu, CEOFrom 2017 to 2019, Orbita has launched 12 satellites into space in order to implement its first commercial remote sensing satellite constellation named “Zhuhai No.1 constellation,” based on 8 hyperspectral satellites and 4 video satellites.
Thanks to the development of a new type of hyperspectral sensors, Orbita has significantly enhanced the imaging resolution and quality of its hyperspectral imagers, leading to excellent imaging performance potential in 400-1000nm spectral range with 2.5 nm spectral resolution, and 256 spectrum acquisition capability, over 150 km swath.
Zhuhai No.1 constellation is the first ever commercial hyperspectral satellite constellation that is able to scan the whole earth in every 2.5 days, providing quantitative remote sensing solutions applicable to global earth monitoring.
The company’s “Satellite Spatial Information Platform” is a useful infrastructure in terms of satellite data acquisition and data processing and application services. While “Zhuhai No.1 constellation” is acquiring more and more data, its hyperspectral big data processing capability provides worldwide solutions for ecology, natural resources, natural disasters & emergency management, climate changes monitoring, forestry, agriculture and urbanism. “Indeed, the progress of hyperspectral quantitative data acquisition and applications benefits worldwide.” notes Zhiyu.
In 2020, thanks to its robust operational capabilities, ORBITA provided expert services when a fire broke out in Panzhihua, Sichuan Province. The company delivered the first hyperspectral satellite data of the area to assist in disaster relief and post-disaster loss assessment, which was successfully completed in 3 days.
