Founded in 2019, SRC UK has established itself as a leading provider of Intelligence Mission Data (IMD) software, EW-related training and provision of expert analysts through a mix of experienced personnel and its highly successful graduate scheme programme. The company has created software and data for MOD that is enhancing output and capabilities for the UK and Allied defence. Stephen Davies, the managing director of SRC UK states, “I believe that UK Defence is entering a 10 year transformation, modernising and adapting to the fast paced changes of international politics and potential adversaries in an ever evolving digitally connected world.”To this end, SRC UK attempts to keep pace with these changes by scanning the horizon and maintaining the research and development lead by employees with deep domain knowledge gleaned from decades of active military service.

Being part of the SRC Inc., SRC UK combines more than 35 years of experience in electronic warfare to develop next-generation solutions for the UK. The company continuously characterises new and emerging threat devices and threat technologies to discover vulnerabilities that can be exploited with effective and efficient electronic methods and cyber techniques. SRC UK has created thousands of emitter descriptions for both the EWIRDB — the primary IMD reprogramming database, and the CSDB mission planning database. The company is also the premier training provider in the EW community, having developed and taught both user and producer training courses to hundreds of EW analysts.

With all-source data collection, screening, complex engineering analyses, and threat modelling capabilities in various domains for multiple friendly, hostile and neutral systems, SRC UK can support end-users to tailor emitter descriptions for sensor-specific reprogramming.
For example, the company met the Ministry of Defence’s challenge of processing large volumes of SIGINT data by developing and implementing Python code into an existing analytics platform. SRC’s extensive domain knowledge, and the ability to reach into academia to create effective and efficient algorithms, allowed the processing of data that facilitated de-interleaving, characterisation, and identification of individual signals within large datasets. The results of this exploitation were then made available to the analyst. Upon completion, SRC UK provided ongoing support to manage the solution, reacting to any issues and possible enhancements throughout, and beyond the contract period.

This software package was delivered to the customer site, allowing the use of live, classified data. Based on Customer Requirements, user familiarisation training was also provided to show how to ingest data into the software and how to manage the results. The results of the analysed datasets had the potential to be further processed to facilitate automation and integration with other analytical toolsets across the enterprise.

With an established training team, SRC UK delivers quality training to Joint Service Publication 822, UK Equality Policy 2010, and Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT) standard. The company is committed to using this training team in the UK to ensure that the training solution is produced and delivered in line with these standards. Currently, its qualified and experienced instructors deliver specialist Radar and electronic intelligence training under contract to the Ministry of Defence. They have trained a significant number of MOD, contractor and SRC UK employees who are successfully delivering Intelligence Mission Data at UK MOD facilities.

For the future, SRC UK is at the cusp of the completion of its new headquarters. The premises based in Lincoln has been designed from first principles to encompass the latest standards of energy efficiency, power generation, sealed heating, zero client cloud-based networks, and living walls. This bespoke building will beseeSRC UK through at leastthe next five years.
