Dawn of New-Age Aerial Defense Systems

The global arms landscape is transforming with the emergence of new defensive capabilities driven by technology trends. Advancements in air defense (AD) system technologies are driving a growing demand for systems with aerial, ground, and naval applications. However, such developments are not limited to government entities and can also be abused by malicious users. Governments must augment their assets with equipment capable of countering new-age military threats like drone attacks or jammers. TETRAEDR can assist government entities with their advanced radio-electronic weapon systems.

TETRAEDR is a full member of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The company has been operating in the global market for nearly two decades, with its employees having extensive experience in combat and air defense system operations. “Our skilled military engineers and scientists continually conduct R&D to enhance the design, development, upgrading, and testing processes of complex electronic and radar systems,” says Andrei Vakhouski, founder and director, TETRAEDR.

The company’s comprehensive product portfolio comprises air defense missile systems (ADMS), radar, as well as missile and gun systems. Its AD equipment is successfully proven to execute aerial defense tasks over a long term (10 to 25 years) owing to the continual incorporation of new technologies. These tech-driven additions are based on the new surface-to-air missile (SAM) guidance methods and adaptive algorithms for radar signal processing and jamming protection—which can be incorporated into an ADMS within short periods in a relatively cost-effective manner.

Currently, TETRAEDR is working on a multi-channel, short-range ADMS based on a multi-beam, active-phased array antenna, which can simultaneously engage and destroy 24 targets. This capability is particularly topical because of the ubiquity and widespread applications of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs).

The company also develops 9K33-1T OSA-1T short-range, self-contained mobile air defense systems with a radar cross-section (RCS) of 0.03m2 and above.

TETRAEDR also offers a medium-range air defense system, the Byelorussian S-125-2TM PECHORA-2TM ADMS, designed to fight modern aerial attack assets in a complex jamming environment.

For every client engagement, it identifies the existing drawbacks of a particular system and simplifies the process of pinpointing equipment specifications, whether it’s an upgrade of an existing AD or the development of a new one. After the initial step, upgrade possibilities and development scope are evaluated by considering a customer’s operational efficiency and the time required to complete the project.

Highlighting these competencies is a recent collaboration where TETRAEDR assisted a customer in developing a combat information field for a battery comprising four shortrange T38 Stilet ADMSs and conceptualized the development of a virtual command post. The developed ADMS has an RCS of 0.03m2 and above and is designed to defend army units and military installations from low- and medium-altitude aerial attacks.

Concurrently, all of TETRAEDR’s AD equipment (including its separate components) comply with North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) standards. For example, one of TETRAEDR’s customers recently performed a successful interface of an upgraded S-125-2TM medium-range ADMS with an automated command post (ACP), developed under NATO standards. The company also uses licensed software in its AD equipment that complies with NATO and individual countries’ regulatory mandates.

TETRAEDR’s advantages over its counterparts are evident from its high-quality equipment manufacturing, shorter lead times, and technical support. The combat efficiency of the company’s ADMSs is proven in actual combat situations. For instance, the efficacy of S-125-2TM ADMSs was established during the patriotic war in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan, with the ADMSs successfully destroying ballistic missiles in the “Tochka-U” short-range ballistic missile system.

Today, TETRAEDR plays a critical role in evolving its aerial defense missiles and anti-jamming technologies by creating advanced products, upgrades, and aftermarket updates. It is working to improve its offerings in the AD arena by developing specialized AI-enabled guidance systems for efficiently executing aerospace defense tasks.
