Jim Nelson, PresidentAerostar is an expert in integrated radar systems that offer hardware and software systems necessary to create a truly integrated surveillance system.
“Built on 65 years of technical know-how in defense applications, Aerostar’s radar systems have the ability to provide an integrated view of border areas by interconnecting with a number of different sensors (radars, cameras, LIDAR, and comms systems) across multiple sensor platforms, including towers, aerostats, portable perception systems, and high-altitude platforms,” says Jim Nelson, President of Aerostar. Aerostar’s solutions break down the operational silos of stand-alone, single instrument border surveillance networks and increase the situational awareness of border security teams around the world.
One critical differentiator of Aerostar’s perception systems is their ability to correlate data from multiple sensor types and platforms into a single common operating picture. Since these radar systems are relatively low in size, weight, and power consumption, multiple systems can be deployed in collaboration, providing a comprehensive and cost-effective alternative to more expensive surveillance solutions.
Aerostar offers its radar systems in two product lines—HiPointer and Vista F-Series Radar Systems. The HiPointer Radar System leverages solid-state technology, the warfighter’s tool of choice for a wide variety of missions due to its accurate, coherent detection. It offers advanced autonomous tracking algorithms and a compact form factor that enables unmanned vehicle perception as well as advanced situational awareness on an array of platforms.
These radar systems employ proprietary algorithms that leverage more than 30 years of data to identify real targets accurately and efficiently. It is designed and optimized to automatically track targets against difficult radar clutter conditions, eliminating the need for operator adjustments and tuning.
Powering these sensor suites is Aerostar’s advanced algorithm-driven software system, vStorm, which uses a patented statistical approach for a higher, more accurate detection rate than other radars. Utilizing vStorm, border security teams can integrate feeds from different sensors, as well as public data feeds such as AIS, ADS-B, or digital nautical charts, to accurately detect, identify, and track multiple targets autonomously without false alarms. Targets can even be tracked from a moving platform, unlike many other solutions that can only monitor targets from a static position.
Aerostar is currently set to enhance its product portfolio and is looking to develop necessary electronics and ground support equipment for its radar systems in the coming months. Through this, Aerostar is furthering its mission of providing unparalleled, integrated border security solutions at an industry-best value.
