A paradigm shift is transforming the engineering service sector, with firms asking the essential questions—how can we re-engineer existing processes to maximize efficiency and enhance client satisfaction? How do we align our strategies with the evolving global sustainability goals?

The answer lies in abandoning conventional methodologies and adopting client-centric and sustainability-aligned workflows. Caidmark, a renowned Malaysian firm with a rich history in Information and Communication Technology (ICT), is embracing this change. Leading the way in the engineering service sector, it demonstrates how firms can restructure processes and strategies to align with modern efficiency and sustainability goals.

Caidmark has evolved into an internationally certified ISO 9001:2015 company with extensive industry experience. The company boasts a four-star and double-A rating from the SME Competitiveness Rating for Enhancement (SCORE) and an SME Innovation Award in 2014 in the ICT and software development category. However, it is not resting on its laurels, continuously innovating and adapting to meet changing client needs.

“We are committed to providing our clients with comprehensive engineering solutions that meet their needs and help them maximize their resources. We strive to stay ahead of industry trends by constantly innovating and adapting to the changing landscape,” says Ts Ir Abdul Malik Hussein bin Abdul Jalil, director (board of directors) - engineering services and strategic business department of Caidmark.

It specializes in data acquisition, condition-based control and monitoring systems, modeling and simulation systems, reliability monitoring and analysis, 3D E-learning, the physics of failure, and fatigue life assessment. Caidmark services a broad range of sectors, including marine, aviation, military, oil and gas, and government agencies, with its current focus on the military industry. This focus is driven by its recognition by the Director General of Technical Airworthiness (DGTA) of the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF). The only company in Malaysia with an authorized engineering organization certificate to perform aircraft structural integrity (ASI) and engine structural integrity (ESI) activities on selected RMAF aircraft, Caidmark has positioned itself as an essential player in the industry.

The challenges it faces are dynamic, requiring an adaptable, team-oriented approach. The company has assembled a strong engineering and software team capable of providing client-specific solutions that address their nuanced needs, which is in stark contrast with firms that impose standard services regardless of context.

Its unique product, the equipment condition monitoring system (ECMS), testifies to this client-centric approach. When the RMAF needed a way to monitor aircraft structural integrity, Caidmark developed ECMS. The platform collects, monitors, analyzes, and makes sense of aircraft usage data. This data-driven approach allows clients to plan maintenance more effectively, improving operations and saving resources.

In one instance, Caidmark was involved in a program called preventive restoration works (PRW), which assessed whether the life of an aircraft that had reached its time limit could be extended. Its team developed the CAD model, database, procedures, and tools to predict the aircraft’s structural life. It also provided engineering services like installing strain gauges on aircraft that previously lacked them, improving aircraft monitoring capabilities.

Today, Caidmark is on the verge of another transformation. Having begun as an ICT-based company, it is now charting an exciting course toward becoming an engineering-centric solution provider. The goal is to provide end-to-end engineering solutions, from the physical structure to life prediction using simulation tools. This evolution reflects Caidmark’s commitment to staying ahead of industry trends and effectively serving its clients.

Caidmark’s story is a testament to the power of adaptability and client-centric solutions in the engineering services sector. While the company looks forward to expanding its services to the Royal Malaysian Navy, its commitment to identifying and solving client problems remains its driving force. This ethos, coupled with the company’s expertise and innovative approach, ensures Caidmark will continue to be a valued partner in the engineering services sector.
