When mission-critical requirements pop up at the 11th hour, organizations turn to their most trusted partners to deliver solutions that do not compromise on quality for speed. It is particularly critical in the aerospace industry, where even minute errors in tolerances can result in catastrophic failures. Knight Aerospace, a leading provider of aircraft modules and palletized systems, specializes in meeting such complex demands within the expected timeframes.

An incident involving the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) substantiates this claim. The RCAF, noting a gap in their capabilities to respond to the demands of the COVID-19 pandemic, reached out to Knight Aerospace when it learned Knight was in the process of creating an airworthy aeromedical biocontainment evacuation system.

The company promptly assessed the situation’s urgency and delivered a fully certified, airworthy biomedical containment module in (a record) six months. It even addressed last-minute adjustment requests by getting staff to Canada in just 12 hours, efficiently working around the limited flight availabilities and challenges regarding COVID testing and permissions. The module, containing hospital-grade technologies like negative pressurization, air filtration systems and equipment, enabled the RCAF to safely repatriate and treat a RCAF officer and his family from Africa, saving their lives.

This story offers a glimpse into Knight Aerospace’s core ethos: providing quick, innovative solutions that can solve the aerospace industry’s complex challenges.

“We are nimble and versatile enough to adapt to any new challenge that comes our way,” says Bianca Rhodes, CEO of Knight Aerospace.

This business ethos is evident in Knight Aerospace’s “Quick-Change/Roll-On Roll-Off” modules, pallets and ground support equipment for aircraft (primarily cargo aircraft). Recognized for exceptional reliability and functionality, the products are used across 37 countries by government agencies and leading aircraft manufacturers like Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Embraer and Northrop Grumman.

The company handles everything in-house, from designing and manufacturing to installing commercial and military aircraft interiors, aircraft ground support equipment, mobile engine test stands (METS), palletized passenger interiors and VIP-staff module conversions for cargo aircraft. These products adhere to all aspects of FAA regulations and safety criteria.

Knight Aerospace’s next wave of products builds on its legacy of precision engineering, delivering exceptional functionality while pushing the boundaries of innovation. Topping the list is a medical module that’s more compact and portable than traditional models, yet it offers greater versatility and the ability to treat various injuries and illnesses. The same module can be repurposed for different functionalities like a command center or an intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) center. It has provisions where the level of different stimuli like lighting, noise, vibrations and temperatures can be adjusted as needed, creating a controlled environment.

Innovations like the Black Knight Loader (BKL) and a rocket module are also part of the company’s dynamic logistics pipeline. The BKL is designed to accompany cargo loaded on military airlift aircraft (C-130, C-17, C-5) to provide a means to organically offload and onload cargo in remote, austere locations, where no pre-positioned Material Handling Equipment exists. The rocket module, on the other hand, can be used to deliver equipment needed to quickly restore a loss of mission operations, and humanitarian aid and disaster relief payloads to stricken areas around the globe, with the eventual goal of transporting people and patients.

Knight Aerospace’s modules and products reflect its commitment to keep innovating until a solution is reached and the lives and safety of the flight crew are guaranteed. In a world where the bare minimum is becoming the norm, this company stands out by going above and beyond expectations to ensure customer satisfaction.
