Imagine an eight-year-old selling a 727-flap carriage; it may sound impossible, but it's true, the child was Angel Camacho, who went on to become the CEO and president of NAS MRO Services. Shadowing his father, who managed an aircraft repair station, gave Camacho a strong understanding of aviation from a young age.

“If I can help my father achieve his dream, I will have succeeded in this life.” Driven by this belief, Camacho strove to grow his father’s repair station into one of the best MRO service providers.

Today, NAS is a complete nose-to-tail component solution provider for airlines and engine maintenance facilities. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA)-approved company operates 145 repair stations, which specialize in repairing and overhauling electrical accessories, instruments, radio, emergency equipment, airframes, and powerplants.

NAS was once approached by a client with a high beyond economical repair (BER) for the cockpit windows on their Embraer fleet. When the windows were affected by moisture ingression or delamination, they had to be discarded. To mitigate this challenge, NAS developed a designated engineering representative (DER) repair with a warranty, which helped them significantly cut costs and allocate funds to other programs.

“Our expertise is not just limited to airline and engine maintenance. We are also a repair station that puts customers first, serving clients from the smallest broker to the biggest airline,” says Camacho.

NAS always stays at the forefront of the industry. Even during the pandemic, it seamlessly adapted to customer requirements amid workforce problems and supply chain issues.

One of a handful of shops in the U.S. providing in-house radome transmission efficiency tests further differentiates NAS MRO. Its tests make aircraft navigation more precise, helping clients stay in line with the evolving navigation governance regulations. NAS assists aircraft in performing quality and efficient radome repairs with a short turnaround time without interfering with or degrading transmit capabilities.

The sky is the limit, as they say, and NAS constantly expands its capabilities to ensure it serves the platforms in demand. It has gravitated from CFM56 to the International Aero Engines (IAE) V2500. The addition of cockpit windows, landing gear, and battery repair departments is indicative that as a repair station NAS is not satisfied with the status quo.

NAS was once approached by a client with a high BRE for the cockpit windows on their Embraer fleet. When the windows were moistened by aggression or delamination, they had to be discarded. The aircraft faced a challenge because the costs ranged between $50,000 and $75,000. To mitigate this, NAS developed a DER repair with a warranty, which helped them significantly cut costs. This saved money and enabled them to spend more efficiently and allocate funds to other programs.

A highly qualified and experienced staff enables NAS to offer the highest quality services for all repair needs. Its committed sales team and customer service division provide clients in the airline and MRO industries with cost-effective solutions. It also controls inventories, exchanges, direct sales, and repair management for elusive parts.

This father-and-son collaboration has resulted in a solid MRO pillar that shares a vision for delivering top-notch customer service and repair quality. A one-stop provider in component repair, NAS promises to consistently deliver an extensive array of solutions for re-certification, repair, overhaul, and distribution.
