Mark Roseberry, Co-FounderDuring the initial days, the duo explored numerous applications for its technology, from automotive crash tests to NASCAR performance monitoring and factory automation, only to realize that aerospace testing and telemetry were where they could make the biggest impact.
At the time, the idea of using standardized buses and re-deployable hardware for spacecraft design and testing was in its infancy. While fighter aircraft featured cutting-edge technology, their test ranges still connected their flight test tracking radars with 2400-baud modems and spooled-out communications wires.
“Recognizing the potential, we focused on developing network-to-real-world ‘gateway’ devices that facilitated the integration of diverse real-world signals into networked systems, addressing a critical need in aerospace testing environments,” says Roseberry.
The focus paid off and in 2000, the company rebranded as NetAcquirethat better reflected its expertise in aerospace data processing.
Since then, NetAcquire has earned a solid reputation for top quality engineering, product reliability, and outstanding customer support, setting new standards in price and capability; its flexible approach to system design helping push the industry forward.
The company’s offerings range from full custom hardware and software engineering for specialized projects such as hardware-in-the-loop spacecraft testing to direct off-the-shelf generic units for applications like telemetry-over-IP data distribution.
NetAcquire focuses on aerospace data processing by combining standardized components with customized designs for longevity and performance, addressing rapid technological advances and long project timelines. Its flexible CTOS/COTS model delivers Configured-to-Order Systems (CTOS) built using Commercial Off- The-Shelf (COTS) components designed and manufactured either by NetAcquire or industry-leading suppliers. This approach provides tailored systems using a high-performance, configurable data processing core, ensuring optimal performance and pricing for diverse signal types and data needs. Nearly a thousand unique system designs and the capability to customize off-the-shelf telemetry products showcase the company’s expertise in rapid, customer-focused engineering.
On the project end of the spectrum, the company played a major role in the P8 Poseidon flight test project with a major defense contractor. This involved managing a vast array of high-volume and diverse signal and data sources. The final test architecture featured the company’s systems at the heart of a networked setup, processing extensive flight test data, downlinking portions, and recording information from various sensors. This included standard telemetry, avionics buses, video related to aircraft operations, and proprietary avionics buses and sensors for flight condition monitoring. NetAcquire’s expertise in integrating specialized aerospace signals and data into a standardized networked environment with advanced processingand communication was central to the project’s success.
The insights gained from these achievements are directed toward addressing generational turnover and the potential loss of legacy knowledge in telemetry data processing. Nurturing the next generation of professionals, the company presents short courses at the International Telemetering Conference (ITC) and conducts regular training sessions. These initiatives attract both the talented new generation and experienced veterans eager to stay current with the latest developments.
The company’s journey exemplifies its power of foresight, customer-centric approach, disruptive innovation, and quality engineering. Today, as the industry continues to evolve, NetAcquire is all set to lead the aerospace test community and the broader aviation space.
