Discussion on Nord Stream 2 is yet to be taken, on which Germany's new chancellor was pressured by his fellow leaders.
FREMONT, CA: Germany's new chancellor was forced by his fellow leaders to include the future of Nord Stream 2 as part of the massive price to be paid in the event of a Russian invasion of Ukraine, in his EU summit. As Nato warned that several Russian troops being mustered by the Kremlin were persisting to grow, Olaf Scholz, who replaced Angela Merkel last week, while reaching Brussels said his government was dedicated to protecting Europe's borders. Scholz informed reporters how one of the very important foundations of peace in Europe is the inviolability of borders, and that they will do everything together to ensure that it remains intact.
Even after a delay, Germany's energy regulator could not arrive at a decision on certifying Nord stream 2, and it may be stretched to the second half of 2022. Nord Stream 2 is a gas pipeline connecting Russia to Germany and eluding Ukraine. However, as there was growing clamor from some EU leaders for a more powerful message there is the possibility of termination of the project, in the event of further military escalation. In case Russia invades Ukraine, the EU's 27 heads of state and government warned in an end-of-summit communiqué of huge and severe costs, along with restrictive measures. However, the officials and leaders have denied the opportunity to disclose potential repercussions in public. On this matter, the European Commission president, Ursula von der Leyen said that she had several measures prepared but did not elaborate much. Latvia's prime minister, Arturs Krisjanis Karins said that the decision regarding whether Nord Stream 2 is on the table or not is quite vital, and if there is any elevated military activity then this project would be terminated.
