The respected Undersecretary of Defense for Research and Engineering Mike Griffin announced that the projects are being delayed, and some of the projects may not happen due to lack of funding, at the U.S. Chamber of commerce.
Fremont, CA: The new Space development agency laid out a number of ambitious plans in order to develop better satellite constellation, specially designed for military communication and missile defense. However, as per Mike Griffin, undersecretary of the Defense for Research and Engineering, a number of Agency's efforts are on hold temporarily, owing to the lack of fund approval by Congress. Moreover, Congress is yet to decide whether to establish the Space Force as an independent military service.
According to Griffin, the federal government is presently receiving funds with a stopgap continuing resolution. Every Agency is affected by the congressional impasse over the fiscal year 2020. However, a full year appropriation is more damaging to both SDA and national security programs. Moreover, he claims the delay in the projects might cause the prevision of the happening of some projects. He also said that the budget battle, be it any type, ends up creating an enormous difficulty for the national security community.

The SDA was designed especially to modernize the military space architecture to be more resilient when any anti-satellite weapons are used to destroy the U.S. spacecraft. The Agency has been provided with the authority to work outside the existing system, which enables them to move faster, as per Griffin. Developing a mesh network of the low Earth Orbiting satellite to ensure the security of communication is of utmost priority. Also, the development of the constellation of surveillance satellite, in order to track the hypersonic glide weapon developed by China and Russia is taken in the priority list.
Griffin also said that the lawmakers agree to the fact that the space architecture needs to be reformed to ensure high protection, but with the present political scenario, it is hard to ensure that the SDA will be able to move fast.
